Building Independent Futures

BRIDGES TO SUCCESS

The transition from childhood to adulthood can be one of the most challenging periods in a young person's life.
While many young adults rely on parents or family members for guidance after highschool, youth aging out of foster care frequently enter adulthood without the support systems many of their peers take for granted.
Without preparation and ongoing support, many youth exiting foster care face significant barriers related to housing, employment, education, transportation, financial literacy, healthcare, and healthy relationships.
Bridges to Success was created to change those outcomes.

Personalized Coaching for Lasting Success

Rather than providing a one-size-fits-all approach, Bridges to Success pairs each participant with a professional Bridges Coach who provides individualized guidance, encouragement, and accountability.

The program recognizes that every young adult's journey is different.

Participants identify their own goals while their Bridges Coach helps them develop practical plans, connect with community resources, overcome obstacles, celebrate achievements, and continue moving toward greater independence.

This relationship-centered approach empowers young adults to build confidence while developing the skills necessary for long-term success.

The Nine Stepping Stones to Success

Bridges to Success centers on nine measurable milestones that help prepare young adults for successful independent living.

Employment — Meaningful employment provides financial stability, builds confidence, and creates opportunities for future growth. Bridges Coaches help participants prepare for employment, develop workplace skills, and pursue career opportunities that support long-term success.

Stable Housing — Safe, reliable housing creates the foundation for independence. Participants learn about housing resources, budgeting for living expenses, and strategies for maintaining stable housing over time.

Transportation — Access to dependable transportation expands opportunities for employment, education, healthcare, and community involvement. Whether using public transportation or working toward vehicle ownership, transportation plays an essential role in independence.

Education — Completing a high school diploma or GED and pursuing additional education or career training creates opportunities for higher earning potential and long-term career advancement.

Budgeting — Learning to manage money is a critical life skill. Participants develop practical budgeting habits, savings goals, and financial planning strategies that support long-term stability.

Banking — Understanding checking accounts, savings accounts, responsible banking practices, and financial security helps young adults confidently manage their personal finances.

Credit — Building healthy credit opens doors to housing, transportation, employment opportunities, and financial independence. Participants learn how responsible financial decisions today can create greater opportunities tomorrow.

Vital Records — Important documents such as birth certificates, Social Security cards, identification, and educational records are essential for employment, housing, healthcare, and many other aspects of adult life. Bridges Coaches help participants obtain and safely maintain these documents.

Permanency — Every young adult deserves supportive relationships. Bridges to Success encourages participants to build healthy, lasting connections with caring adults, mentors, community organizations, and positive support networks that continue well beyond the program.
