Phyllis James joined Piedmont CASA as a Supervisor in August 2023. She previously worked as a Retirement Plan Advisor supporting Fairfax County Public School employees. Phyllis also served as a Foster Parent with the Fairfax County Department of Family Services for five years. She holds a BA degree in French and Spanish from the University of Virginia and was a Graduate Teaching Assistant at Howard University for two years. Since moving to Charlottesville in 2018, Phyllis has volunteered/participated in programs with Abundant Life Ministries, serving youth in the Fifeville area and with ReadyKids. She is the proud mother of one son and two daughters and the doting grandmother of two granddaughters and one grandson. Phyllis is an avid reader and lifelong learner and lover of literature and history. She ultimately loves reading to/with her grands, putting together 1000+ piece puzzles, and outings with them. She also enjoys spending quality time with extended family and friends.
